She’s passionate about showing often-skeptical scientists and technical professionals that they really can change how they present for the better, without changing themselves.
Since 2009, Melissa has traveled globally to work with Fortune 100 companies, research institutions, and universities, sharing the transformative strategies she has honed through her consulting practice and her decade-long tenure as a faculty member at Penn State University. Since 2019, Microsoft has annually acknowledged her efforts in enabling the technical community to utilize PowerPoint for more effective slide design, honoring her as one of Microsoft's Most Valuable Professionals (MVP).

Shane Haydt, Ph.D.
Technical Communication Trainer & Engineer
Dr. Shane Haydt is an engineer, researcher, and technical communication trainer with deep experience helping technical professionals communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
Shane earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University and has built his career in aerospace research and engineering, including leadership roles at Pratt & Whitney and the RTX Technology Research Center. His work has required him to translate sophisticated technical information for a wide range of audiences, from engineering teams to senior executives, including communicating technical strategy on high-visibility programs with visibility up to the CEO level.
Shane's communication training experience began at Penn State, where he served as a Graduate Assistant for the Engineering Ambassadors program under Melissa Marshall. In that role, he helped teach engineers how to communicate technical ideas effectively, develop presentations, and adapt complex content for non-technical audiences. He has also designed and delivered technical training in industry, including a week-long onboarding course for new engineers that earned him a Hot Section Engineering Achievement Award.
